Hydration: A Proper Workout Technique
A surprisingly warm day can zap our energy before we know it. Add a workout activity and you can become dehydrated quickly. Without careful attention to how much and how often you drink, you might be surprised how quickly you can lose significant amounts of fluid when you’re working out.
Your energy levels and sports performance suffer when you lose just 2% of your body weight (that’s a 2.5 pound loss for a 130-pound athlete). When you’re dehydrated your metabolic rate will fall flat so your body burns fewer calories.
12 tips for athletes to stay hydrated:
1. Weigh yourself before and after a workout. Find out how much water weight you usually lose.
2. Two=2. Two hours before activity, drink 16 ounces of fluids.
3. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty to drink fluids.
4. After exercise, drink 16 to 24 ounces of fluids for every pound of body weight lost during activity.
5. During your exercise, drink 5 ounces of fluid every 15-20 minutes.
6. Take breaks during your workouts to stay hydrated and keep your hydration beverage handy. Every large gulp or swallow = about 1 ounce of fluid.
7. Drink enough to stay hydrated. If you gain weight after exercise you drank too much.
8. Don’t over drink during strenuous workouts.
9. Replenish with more than water. When we sweat, we lose water, electrolytes and more.

I prefer the grape flavor over the rest. Its neither sweet not sour to taste, but is very tasteful. With a twist of the cap, the vitamin and minerals are dispensed into the water. You continue to twist until it opens, and you can drink.
